Exciting news for Reeth in 2014 The Tour De France coming to Yorkshire.

The tour starts in Leeds July 5th 2014, heading north on A61 towards Harewood before turning left and travelling through Otley, Ilkley,Skipton,Kettlewell,Buckden,Thoralby,Aysgarth,Bainbridge and Hawes. Then a steep climb and descent over Buttertubs pass and winding down through beautiful Swaledale, Muker, Gunnerside, Low Row, Feetham and on to Reeth. Swaledale Festival-Saturday 25th May-8th June 2013.  The festival comprises of over 40 ticketed performances as well as other free events offering classical,choral,jazz and folk music in intimate dales venues.  The festival commences with an open air performance on Reeth Green by The Olympianist!!!  For more info see www.swaledale-festival.org.uk

Festival of food and drink-Leyburn 4th May-6th May 2013.  Featuring over 80 exhibitors in the food and drinks hall, see the animals, listen to the guest speaker. Farming for food exhibits, rides, interactive stalls. Fun for all the family. www.dalesfestivaloffood.org

Reeth Show- 100th Annual Show (26th August 2013). A traditional Agricultural Dales Show, a great family day out including the Great Fremington Edge Fell Race. www.reethshow.org

Kilnsey Show - (27th August 2013). Situated between Kettlewell and Skipton. A traditional Dales Show

1940's War weekend at Leyburn (27th-28th July 2013). Locals and shop fronts dress accordingly, war memorabilia, ride on a old bus, watch the steam trains. A real atmospheric day. www.wensleydalerailway.com

Harrogate Flower Show- About 40 min drive from the cottage, located at Harrogate Showground, the flower festival takes place between 25-28th April 2013.  A great day out with lots of stalls, exhibitions, food hall, great opportunity to buy new and interesting plants. www.flowershow.org.uk

The Great Yorkshire Show- About 40 mins drive from the cottage, located at Harrogate Showground, the show takes place from 9th-11th July 2013. www.greatyorkshireshow.co.uk

Countryside Live-About 40 min drive from the cottage, located at Harrogate Showground, the show takes place from 19-20th October 2013.  A great family day out with livestock,equine competition,crafts etc. www.countrysidelive.co.uk

Grassington Dickensian festival- About 45 mins drive from the cottage, a wonderful atmospheric day leading up to Christmas 30th Nov,7th Dec,14th Dec 2013.  Shopkeepers dressed up Dickensian style, local donkey led up the cobbles (nativity), carol singers,craft stalls. www.grassington.uk.com
